Marijke has been a valued member of MCCS since 2017, teaching both K/1 and 3rd grade. Marijke returns to the Children’s School for the 2022-23 school year teaching 3rd and 4th grade Mathematics.
Prior to her time at the Children’s School, Marijke taught for ten years in Oakland Unified, first as a Special Education teacher and then as a Spanish Dual Immersion teacher. She also worked as a curriculum consultant for Expeditionary Learning and has facilitated educator workshops in Mexico and the U.S.
Marijke grew up in Saudi Arabia and Washington, DC. as well as lived in Honduras and Ecuador. She graduated from Barnard College in New York City and holds a Masters Degree in Philosophy and Education from Columbia University. Marijke enjoys learning languages, traveling, reading and exploring nature with her family.
